ABC MEMBRANES
What training should be given to personnel employed in an ultrafiltration water treatment plant?
Preferably, an electrical mechanic is ideal for managing a UF water treatment installation. However, he must be curious and open-minded in order to understand why he must imperatively respect the criteria related to the quality of the water to be treated, whether he is surrounded by colleagues (even far from the site) that can help solve any problems that may arise. Likewise, it must be rigorous in respect of the conduct to be followed defined by the supplier of the UF unit and the supplier of the membranes.
Does ultrafiltration make it possible to obtain chemically and bacteriologically pure water (H2O and nothing else)?
UF ensures a bacteriological reduction of 5 to 7 log depending on the membranes chosen. On the other hand, it allows the chemical products to pass according to their nature: The organic matter will be partially retained according to their size and the minerals cross the UF membrane almost without being retained because they are too small to be retained. As a result, we will seek to eliminate them by combining the UF with other chemical processes or by using a reverse osmosis membrane which will only let pure water through.
